The start of 2020 saw global supply chains kick off with business as usual, growing, manufacturing and distributing goods to all corners of the globe. Many were exploring the benefits of digitising the supply chain and introducing increasing amounts of automation into operations.
However, by early February the severity of COVID-19 was making itself known and new threats to the supply chain were appearing. Indeed, COVID-19 has exposed to the world the alarming fragility of the existing supply network, with national lockdowns, business closures, tightened border controls and customer demands hitting uncharted territory.
