In recent years, it has been the case that new uses have seen the resurgence of RFID (radio frequency identification devices), particularly in the market for drugs and the monitoring of temperature when they are being transported.

This has been led by advances in technology, which, although they took time to come into effect, promoted these new uses.

New research from ChainLink Research said that it will soon be the case that temperature-sensitive drugs will be a cornerstone of the market, proving the need for new technology to keep up with this demand, which it said will be a gap filled by RFID.

In addition, earlier this year, research from Peacock Bros brought about the introduction of freezable RFID chips which can be used at temperatures reaching as low as minus 40C.

The use of these chips, and the extremes at which they can still function effectively will be a leader in helping with efficient regulation of temperature as there will be a far lower risk of the technology failing when put to the test.

In addition to this, the tags can be read by the correct device through frost, cold air and humid conditions to ensure that they always remain robust. Peacock Bros said that the main advantage was the reduction of human error in the technology.
