Pharma Logistics Glossary: Internet of Things (IoT)

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the interactions between various connected smart devices. IoT is disrupting a range of industries. For example, temperature controlled logistics becomes ‘intelligent’ thanks to IoT programs via smart sensors and monitoring. Smart phone alerts could notify supply chain stakeholders when a door has been left open on a refrigerator storing medicines. Features like this could prevent lifesaving medicines from spoiling due to handling mistakes.
