Pharma sales have been relatively healthy in Latin America over the past few years.

Indeed over the counter drugs consume a large section of the market, however the generic prescription drug is a swiftly growing category in the region. Brazil is the strongest pharmaceutical market, forecasted grow to US$29bn by 2021. Argentina is one of the more attractive regions in Latin America for manufacturers with the deployment of healthcare reforms, however poor access to medicines and hurdles with IP protection present tall challenges for the nation.

To successfully supply medicines in this continent, market authorisation holders must equip themselves with the local expertise of Latin America's landscape in terms of its infrastructure, regulatory climate, weather and population forecasts.
